In November of 2012 the combined memberships of the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department and the Teago Fire Department voted to merge the two independent Fire Departments into one combined Pomfret-Teago Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. under the leadership of former Chief Kevin Rice.

The department will continue to operate from two stations.
